knitting and neon

A few quick things. I taught myself knitting. That’s the name of the book I found in my closet, along with a collection of my Great Aunt Mae’s old McCall’s Needlework magazines from the 70s. They are truly classic. Last week, after getting the basic stitch down, I managed to finish a cable swatch and the start of a ribbed scarf with chunky yarn. I appreciate the challenge of trying to coordinate two needles, after getting so used to crochet. I’m having fun.

Michael and I just framed our first collaborative painting, which we did for a friend’s wedding. It’s a small canvas, mounted on a piece of masonite, done in both oil and acrylic. It’s different than most of my work, but pretty great I think. I really like colored metal frames and neon. Everything in moderation.

yay, you’re knitting now! i taught myself crochet last winter, but haven’t picked it up this year. i’m trying to get motivated to knit a blanket. i think whichever one you learn first will always be the easiest. but dang, you picked up knitting fast!! love the Place duet painting! ❤ emily
